10,000 years ago our early ancestors camped on the shores of North America's great inland sea. They built fires, worked on tools and hunting weapons and bonded in early societies. Reaching back to these early immigrants and beyond, to the time when dinosaurs roamed the continent, History in Hand's Prehistoric America program guides young people in a journey of discovery of life before recorded history. Recreating an archaeological excavation at a campsite of this long-vanished world, this program deals with themes and topics which always engage and excite young minds and challenge them to discover more.
Our Prehistoric America program guides students through each stage of an "experimental archaeological" dig with both field and lab work, providing them with the unique thrill of being a real archaeologist. Your students will begin by excavating the site to unearth man-made artifacts dating as far back as 8,000 BC as well as fossils and bones dating back to the age of the dinosaur. Returning to the lab to clean their finds, they will be enthralled as they clean, preserve and identify their discoveries. This seminar will bring your students in contact with history, paleontology anthropology and archaeology in our unique "hands on" manner that provides a connection above and beyond what can be achieved by a lecture in a classroom setting.

Purchasing Additional Premium and Special Artifacts
Increasing the number and variety of Premium artifacts, or adding one - or several - of History in Hand's high quality of Special artifacts can serve to intensify the program impact for young students, building excitement and enhancing the learning experience. Additional items to find and identify strengthens the students' connection with the artifacts and provides a greater motivation to learn and discover.
History in Hand artifacts bring the past out from between the covers of the books and allow students to. Students can experience what it's like to grip a prehistoric scraper and transport themselves back to the life and times of its maker. or marvel at the detail and intricacy of a fossilized plant or sea creature. Our artifacts hold the key to unlocking young imaginations.
